Today is a very fine day, as I didn't drive to work. So I'm not contributing to the heavy traffic in the city. Walking to the office, I go through a park, with a row of coffeeshops. Breathing the fresh air, tinted with faint smell of coffee; its really relaxing. Ah... apart from the hectic lifestyle, one can still find own way of appreciating the city. Well, anyway, enough about me. Today I am going to talk about Harry Potter Mania.
I've read all five books of HP (:finally:). Some say that Harry Potter series got kids reading again. Well, they are very true. Not only kid, even I rediscover my hobby of reading. Better still, my brother who never ever has any interest in reading, heads the bickering on who gets to read the book first...
What is so great about the series that make people of all level going maniac about it? Well, there are many reasons. As for me, the feeling of dragged into another realm is undeniably fascinating. It is the world of magic, and yet, the explanation is so real and logic, that you really wants to believe it exists. The way she unfolds the secrets throughout the book makes you see that each and every event has its own significance.
Ok.. you can say, "I've watched the movie, why should i read the book?" Personally, by just watching the movie is not enough. Its far from enough!! I'm not trying to promote or anything. Just, it is worth reading what a lot of other people is reading. Then you can talk about quidditch, spells and Hogwarts!!
And still, we have a bunch of us who hates reading... For those kind of people, I'll just tip my hat and bid farewell...
OK... as an otaku. I definitely, surely possess obsession towards anime. For those non-otaku and too-busy-socialising-to-n otice, let me tell you what exactly is anime (ah - ni - may).
For easy understanding, anime is a form of Japanese animation. If you watch TV sometimes, you may be able to name some anime and actually notice the characters.
But why anime? Why not the overrated american cartoons? If you take time to compare the Japanese anime and Western cartoon you may find that being Asian, anime is packed with humanity and moral value. Here is my opinion on what makes anime so cool!
they really emphasise the value of 'friendship'. Mostly, the main character of an anime must have his/her own circle of friends that can be of help anytime, anywhere.
There are many characters and each character is unique. There is the genius type, the grumpy type, the sporty type.... and the list goes on... You see, they can be who they are, and still well-accepted among their colleague. This is what makes me want to jump into their realm :sigh:
I see the word often. I know I am an otaku, and proud to be one. But do you guys know what an otaku is? So as my first entry... ehem ehem... I'm gonna tell you what is otaku.
From my brief internet research, otaku is the honorific word of 'taku' that means home. So, basically, an otaku is one who stays at home all the time, with NO social life, and maybe love life. (Well, pardon me, I HAVE a love life  )
So, if otaku is said to have no life, what do they do? Duh!! The obvious: (1) watch anime (2) play videogames (3) surf internet
I think by now you sure know that in well-accepted-English term, otaku is very similar to "NERD".
Ok, so i'm not implying anyone with these three hobbies is an otaku. Judge it yourself!
