.: the idea of a husband:.
02.29.04 (5:57 pm)   [edit]
8)

When i was walking to the office today, I suddenly am overly aware of the female worker here sent by their husband to this building.

Well, as I am not what you can call officially-married yet, I always receive certain remarks from my colleague saying... its easier if I have a husband, there's someone to send me to the office, and pick me up... if i am sort-of broke, there's always his money... and other blablabla heck!
The point they emphasised is I will have someone to take care of your personal and financial matter. or is it??

I am not opposing marriage, but I am not sure is that the idea of having a husband? Is it always easier... or its worse actually? Its true they will take care of their wife, but is it worthy if compared to the care of a wife to her husband?

OK, so maybe for those who met their match made in heaven... it'll be heavenly. Heh, but still many ppl I know, are not able to reach this stage.

What I want to say is... if we're happy about our single life, should we bother to get married and get tied up with all the commitments?

Still, I strongly agree with the idea that everyone need to have a special someone in life, maybe just to make life more... ermm.. normal perhaps...

Yet, an ideal husband... is considered a rare species.. hehe...

.: hobbies :.
02.27.04 (2:20 am)   [edit]
:o

I remembered when I was in school, whenever there's a question about hobbies, most of us will answer... reading, collecting stamps (lame....), drawing, playing badminton, and making friends.

I think none of my friends dare to mention watching TV, playing hide and seek, sleep, doing homework, etc. Well, not only them, I also never bothers to tell the truth, because then the teacher will definitely interrogate you if the hobbies are so-called not useful.

But now, I started thinking, what are my hobbies??? OK.. reading is still in, watching TV is definitely one, and another one is collecting postcards...
Ugh, I used to call those people whose hobby is collecting stamps are those who dunno what theirs is.
My cubicle is covered with postcards, especially those free ones available from most coffee shops here. Well... OK, actually, collecting stuff isn't soo lame afterall...

:?

:: winning in life?? ::
02.25.04 (10:05 pm)   [edit]

Something to share .....

If you think you are beaten, you are,
If you think you dare not, you don't,
If you like to win, but you think you can't,
It is almost certain you won't.

If you think you'll lose, you lost,
For out of the world we find
Success begins with a fellow's will,
It's all in the state of mind.

If you think you are outclassed, you are,
You've got to think high to rise,
You've got to be sure of yourself before...
You can ever win a prize.

Life batlles don't always go
To the stroger or faster man,
But soon or late the man who wins,
Is the man who thinks he can.

.: blogging :.
02.25.04 (6:56 pm)   [edit]
:D

I first know that blogs function is to be like your online diary. OK... for this last two days, i've been receiving newsletter stated that blog is a beneficial tool in e learning.

I don't know whether i'm the only one outdated here, but it seems that many educators have been using blog in their classroom. Blog is said to be a useful teaching and learning tools because student can write and publish their thoughts, while at the same time the comments function enable other to give feedback. They even say that blog is much better compared to simple forum, and also better than e mail discussion group... hmmm

[i]*Note to anor: this might be useful...
"Research suggests that many of blogs advantages can also be afforded by asynchronous discussion forums"[/i]

WOW! If i can blog during my school time.. it'd be awesome. Kids today... you are blessed by these technologies. Be thankful.
There's also the term 'edutainment'... which means education in entertainment. Those days... it just textbook, teachers, and classmates... ugh, boringg!

Well, for oTaku like me... my school time will definitely be better if computer did most of the teaching, and not human. But still.... there are some great teachers which technology cannot replace... and also, there are also teachers that i wish them trapped inside the teachers lounge... and forever remain there...
haha

.: talk vs listen:.
02.24.04 (10:01 pm)   [edit]
:x
Actually, i don't really know what to write today. Today is considered as a not-so-good day for me. Early in the morning, I an already stuck in the traffic jam. I feel like killing the traffic policeman...

Anyway, i remembered my discussion with anor a few days back. Its about a person who is good in expressing, and good in listening.

I consider myself as a good listener. Thus, I am definitely poor in expressing myself. I wonder how I ended up in a career that requires me to do a lot of visualisation...
So maybe that's why my boss asked me to work under my leader. She's sooo good in expressing herself. And yes... I rarely have time to talk. Which is not so bad... because talking is not my hobby. I prefer my fingers to do the talking...

anor told me that in order to excel in life, we must be both capable to express and listen. hmm.. well, maybe i need more training. and people like me have no choice but to excel in life...

This is an interesting [b]article on Sailor Moon[/b] that i found in the online version of Japanese english magazine - Metropolis.

It somewhat provides an overview of being oTaku and obsession towards Sailor Moon. heh

.: survey!! :.
02.23.04 (8:40 pm)   [edit]
:)

Thank you to my dear anor for updating the blog yesterday....

OK, have you ever been in a public place and suddenly someone approaches you and asked you to fill in some form, for survey purposes? I bet most of you have experienced it. As for me, I only been approached twice in my whole life.

To tell you the truth, I don't mind being approached for surveys thingy (only if the questions exceeded 50, then I'll be pissed..). But, not many people dare to approach me. Maybe I have a message 'Get out of my way!!' stamped on my forehead... I dunno...

Hah! Another thing is, those salesman promoting credit cards, housing loans, car loans, perfumes... they also refuse to approach me. But for those products, I undertand their hesitations. I look too 'sengkek' (not enough money) for them. Which is true... I'll only waste their time. haha

But still, I have trouble saying no to people. Especially when approached by sweet li'l girl. Well, who can resist those poor face...

:: faith ::
02.23.04 (1:44 am)   [edit]
Everything you can imagine is real – Pablo Picasso

Actually I agree with this quotation. It may sound too imaginative but for me its real. :? The scenario is like this, when you strongly believe in something, you have faith in it. Faith is one undeniably important element in life. With proper knowledge, faith will produce something nifty. People like Henry Ford, Alexander Graham Bell, even Bill Gate are among those with faith. They have faith and they harness their knowledge in a very harmonious way to make it useful. 8)

In our life, how many of us have faith? Even me myself may lose my faith in some ways (thank goodness I have you dear  ), but I’ll work my butt out. I’ll have more faith for what I am striving for in my life. I also realize that I need more knowledge and more perseverance. There’s so much more to learn about life. There’s still a super huge knowledge repository there.

I’ve seen two people with faith in what they are doing. Yes, they are still alive. I saw how they are still fighting. For most people, its like they are fighting on losing battle but for me  , they fight for their faith and this is very fine. I need not elaborate more, but deep in my heart, I really hope that one day they will win, because they are fighting for something that will benefit many. I also learn something, you may be tested real hard for the beautiful thing you want.

You may lose, but that is not a failure, that’s just a temporary defeat towards your ultimate goal.

:!: :!: :!:

.: young at heart :.
02.19.04 (7:37 pm)   [edit]
:x
Actually i am supposed to have a meeting with the client today, but they cancelled it yesterday evening. I got pissed off! So i decided to wear as 'sempoi' as possible today. After ploughing my cupboard, i found anor's old dark blue jeans, which is too big and too long for me. I wear that with my XtraLarge A&F tee.

So... in the lift i pressed the button for level 32. then she asked me, 'Is there a college at level 32?'
I said no, and gave her my stupid grin. But she said that it seems that i'm dressing like a college student. At first i felt rather awkward... Well, I feel that i contributed in bringing bad impression to my company. So then I said to her that its dress down Friday. But to admit the truth, my dressing isn't really casual, its slightly sloppy. C'mon, working in an IT company doesn't require you to wear formal thingy!!!

Then after i sat on my chair, i started thinking... She may not mean that I bring bad impression to my company..! Better still, s maybe she sees me as a 19 year-old kid... haha... and that's kewl!

Personally, i think... looking young must come from your heart. if you feel young, you'll definitely look young. but if otherwise... may be you love to look old. I have two friends who was born in the same year. but if you put them side by side, they look like yeaaars apart.
above all... be happy, and you'll look younger

.: channeling your anger :.
02.19.04 (12:27 am)   [edit]

it happened again. heh heh.
the war in the office. my team leader fight! fight! fight! with the graphic designer. Yesterday, the project manager practically forced them to settle it once and for all.

I mostly am the middle-person. I couldn't be bothered to open my mouth and force my windpipe to work. So, from my not-so-professional opinion, both of them are just easily pissed off.

Well... c'mon all they need is a channel for their anger to get the heck out of their system. Actually there are many ways to channel your anger. One can destroy things, get laid, engaged in a marathon, go drunk, and many other things.

That's why i think that being too engrossed in you work is not healthy. Because then you tend to take it personally instead of professionally. Maybe its true, certain married people are easier to work with the single one. And personally i think its a good idea if we do a part time job/activity after work.

Like yesterday i was thinking... my work stresses my brain out and i rarely move my lazy bun from my desk. So i think at night, i should do part time job like washing dishes at any mamak stall. Well, at least that job acquires minimum brain usage. Maybe that's a good way to channel my anger out.

But, i better suggest that job to my quarelling colleagues. As for me, i have anor and her ever-expanding byte to store my anger. heh heh.. thanx a bunch dear!

A FACE devoid of love or grace,
A hateful, hard, successful face,
A face with which a stone
Would feel as thoroughly at ease
As were they old acquaintances,
First time together thrown.

[LINE]
OK.. that is a poem from Emily Dickinson. I don't know much about her. But I know that she died before her poem was discovered. So, basically, she had no idea that she IS somebody!

I don't really understand all this poetish thingy. Since i was in high school, the subject of poem or 'puisi' is my worst. Actually, its so lucky of me because by now, the subject of English Literature is compulsary for every student. Its just that, I'm so poor in understanding the hidden meaning intertwined in between the words.

But still, I once wrote a poem; published in my school magazine. Haha... funny. Well, that was the time when i think the world revolves against me. You know, teenager's hormonal distraction... :sigh:

OK, so maybe i can write poem, but i can't understand what others write. Hmm.. if every poem allows different interpretations, maybe not many people would interprete it like me...

.: prescription and medication :.
02.16.04 (9:17 pm)   [edit]
:?

I didn't come to work yesterday. Got medical leave. But still, staying home... its kinda bored too... Luckily, anor's here, so.. at least i have company.

At the clinic, i waited for more than half an hour to meet the doctor. But still, the time taken for my diagnosis is only about 2 minutes. OK, yesterday's visit took longer that a minute because my blood pressure and temperature are taken.

Compare the time of your visit with the money you spend for each visit. I tell you, here, the doctor make massive amount of money simply by scribbling on a piece of paper!!! Actually, you can buy those medications at any pharmacy by paying only a fraction of the amount... Then, why don't the public go for this cheaper alternative?

OK..the main problem of the public is, lack of awareness and knowledge about medications. I am soo lucky because my degree is related to biological science. So... I can diagnose my own simple medical conditions. But still, without any medical background, you can even go to any pharmacy, and seek help from the pharmacist in charge.

Well, by saying this, I didn't mean that doctors are useless. They are still useful especially for chronic and complicated diseases. OK... most of all, doctors are important because they are the only one able to give you MC...

imagine life without electricity...
OMG... for me, its totally terrible. There'll be no TV, no internet, no light, no air conditioner, and many things won't be available.

But, how can our forefathers survive without all the conveniences of today? Whoa... they surely had loads of free time. heh heh

I was born on the 70's. During my schooldays, there's no such thing as the internet. Believe it or not, I started typing a computer keyboard when I was 16 years old. And during that time, there's no such thing as user friendly system, and colourful monitor whatsoever. The best word processor then was Wordstar with its dull monochromatic screen.

Some people enjoyed those days, where life is not about catching up with the... erm... time actually.
But for me... my school time sux. As all of you know, I am not so good in socialising, yet, i can't blog, i can't surf the internet.. but luckily TV is available. Otherwise i'd probably died already. And i's really thankful that my parents bought a coloured one..!

Kids nowadays are very lucky! with everything in 'e'... e-Learning, e-Textbook, e-School, and e-tc. Living and learning should be more exciting and enjoyable.

OK, basically what i want to say is... thank God for electricity... LOL!

.: anime vs cartoon :.
02.12.04 (2:05 am)   [edit]
:o

What is anime and what is cartoon? What's the difference between those two?
If you ask me... of course its not the same! I'll simply answer, anime is Japanese animation... while cartoon is animation from contries other than Japan.
heh... lame answer showing my lack of research...

OK... seriously now. What's the difference? So, from my lil' effort of going thru some websites... I am able to compile some differences of anime character, compared to other toons...
  • The characters are usually human with big, and shiny eyes, especially the females.
  • Anime characters have no teeth( ??!!)
  • The hair colour and length varies. You can have any colour in different shades.
  • Most cartoons are intended for kids. But that is not applicable for anime. There are a lot of adult issues being discussed in anime.
  • The characters do not have to stay pretty, composed and perfect all the time. We can see many silly faces of the main character.
  • As it is associated to Japanese society.... anime is more liberal in term of censorship and social attitudes. That is why some dubbed anime are brutally slashed...
  • The villains can sometimes be the good guys... and vice versa.

hmmm... so there are some differences between anime and cartoons. Anime is one 'happening' phenomenon in todays animation...
So, for Malaysians who wants to create animation series, adopting the anime concept may be a good move... heh..

    .: kicking the ball :.
    02.10.04 (9:07 pm)   [edit]
    :)

We have so many things that we 'want' and 'can' do in our life. But... have we done it? Can we do it? Or are we too busy making excuses to refuse doing what we want??
    aiyahh... that sounds familiar... :?
Actually, no matter how good and how talented you are, if you do not dare to kick the ball... things will never happen..

I remembered anor once said to me... da Vinci is a damn good artist... but if he never created mona lisa ... what's his difference from the rest of the population??

One living example of a person that makes it happen is Amber Benson... And I really admire her. Obviously, i first noticed her from BtVS. From her heart-wrenching portrayal of Tara Maclay (Willow's girlfriend actually...), I started to get to know her better.

It appears to me that, she is talented, and at the same time proves her talent by doing things...
  • Produced, directed, written, and acted in her own movie; Chance.
  • Writes the series Ghost of Albion with Christopher Golden. She has also written the BtVS comic - Willow & Tara, and Tales of the Slayers.
  • Sing & dance!! in Buffy the musical

And the best part is.. she is only 27!!
I wonder what she'll do next... I really, really hope one day she has her own talk show or sitcom... Just can't get enough of her sarcasm!
  •
    .: losing weight :.
    02.08.04 (6:05 pm)   [edit]
    8)

I remembered when i was 13, my favourite singer was Wilson Phillips. Really love them, especially Wendy... well, maybe because she's redheaded.. (i always hava a thing for 'red')...
Anyway, Wendy's sister, Carnie Wilson, is quite chubby at the moment. And few years back, I heard that she did one treatment to reduce her weight. She did a gastric bypass surgery. Compare her now and then...

OK, other than surgery, one can also lose weight by taking medications such as the ever popular phen-fen (which is banned now...). Following a particular dieting method is another popular way to slim down. For example, we have the Atkins Diet, The Zone, the high-protein diet... which is practiced by many Hollywood stars.

The point is, there's a price for losing weight. But again, many people can endure the pain of starvation, and waste their money to gain the pleasure of being slim. So... being a dietitian is probably a good career choice.

I once had the pleasure of receiving the advice from a dietitian (a dietitian in the making to be exact...). Well... during that time she and I was still in our final year of uni. So... its free then!!
Currently, she is a senior dietitian in one medical centre here. I wonder how much her words cost now...
    hmmm... :D

    :: valentine ??? ::
    02.07.04 (5:14 pm)   [edit]
I've just visited one of my fav. site on the web. One of the interesting discussion today is Valentine's Day. Well, for me its just another day in February. Nothing much, but it's good to have a day like that, just to express our appreciation. You can get something special for your love one for example. This is because if you just give something to your love one,out of no where, may be she or he will be shocked, or worse, thinking that you may have "other agenda".

I am in the state of being imaginative now (well being alone in this room torment and mutilate my brain sometimes), OK ..imagine this :
Darkness abruply descended, when light come, it strobe-like upon the person you love most. You sit there as the only audience. Then your love one flee to you and swiftly said that he or she loves you just too much. OK ... enuff ..enuff...

Back to the Valentine's issue, its not really matter that you celebrate it or not. It's already enuff if you have someone besides you to share your day, your time. To have someone besides you to take some strides in your life. To share your happiness, tear and fear. You may be just another one person in the world but you can be the world for one person. (did i get this one rite? whatever, dont sue me ..I'm poor)

    .: dream on :.
    02.06.04 (1:02 am)   [edit]
    :)

i believe everyone has at least a dream, of what they want to be later in their life. So do i.
Is it OK to dream? My youngest sister said its OK, because you don't have to pay to have a dream. Well, good... at least its not financially consuming.

My ultimate dream is to open my own bookstore. And to make it a reality, money is needed. I don't care about that yet, when the time comes... I will be financially stable to do that.

Why bookstore?? OK, simply because I love to read, but I don't really allocate enough money to buy them. And... free reading is not encouraged in most of the bookstore here... :sigh:
So, if I have my own bookstore... I can read the books/magazines/comics anytime i want. I can spend my time in a bookstore, and at the same time, make more money... haha. And.. I'll allow free reading!

Sometimes I think its funny... The one thing that somewhat annoys you the most, provides you with the drive to do something.
So, to conclude... its good to dream, and it will be better it you decide to turn it into reality. And the best part is, living your dream successfully...

    Ah.... I need a caffeine fix... :x

    .: Survivors ready?! :.
    02.04.04 (7:32 pm)   [edit]

Ah yes!! Survivor All-Stars finally started. Tho' it is still not aired in my country... :? , my tight bond with the CBS website enable me to identify who is the first one out. But then, I won't write it here because it is considered as spoilers to the die-hard fans in my country.

OK, just to inform who the 18 survivors are:
  • Richard - Pulau Tiga sole survivor
  • Tina - Australian Outback winner
  • Ethan - obviously...
  • Jenna (Morasca) - The nude-for-peanut-butter sole Amazon survivor
  • Rudy, Susan, Jenna (Lewis) - From Pulau Tiga
  • Amber, Alicia, Colby and Jerri (oh yess!) from the Australian Outback
  • Lex & Tom - The African jury
  • Kathy & Rob (Mariano) - From Marquesas
  • Shii Ann - Survivor Thailand
  • Rob (Cesternino) - From The Amazon
  • Rupert - Survivor Pearl Island

And this time around... I hope the none-sole survivor wins. C'mon, i cannot accept the fact that somebody will go back with 2million by being a sole-survivor twice!

Another great thing, the two survivors who posed for the Playboy cover are there!!! Hmmm, interesting.. haha!

.: beauty and its beholder :.
    02.03.04 (11:47 pm)   [edit]

[i]I am beautiful no matter what they say
    Words can't bring me down
I am beautiful in every single way
Yes, words can't bring me down
So don't you bring me down today[/i]
    Beautiful - Christina Aguilera

I really like the wording of that song. It somehow boosts my confidence. Actually, beauty is very subjective. And i started to realise that who am i to judge that this creature is beautiful, while that creature is ugly? Like what people said, beauty is in the eyes of the beholder, or maybe the ears... or the nose. heh heh...
I may say that my car is pretty, but it may not be to other people...

Then again, if it is not so good to judge on beauty, why there are such word in our vocabulary???

I think the main reason that beautiful creature exists is simply to provide satisfaction to its beholder. And, it turns out that some beautiful creature have loads of beholder, while others may only have few. Well, those with many beholder will reach the stage of not only beautiful, but also famous!

Whatever it is, whether you are pretty, or famous, or none of those... is not important.
You can be sooo beautiful, that have gazillions of beholder... but it is still not worth it if you don't have at least ONE person... the ONLY person that can really approve that you are beautiful in every single way. 'The one' that can see you as a totally beautiful creature, inside and outside...

Then again, that one person is usually the hardest to find...
